Rajdhani Express - Train Information


Rajdhani Express is one among the fastest train service preferably offered by the Indian Railway. It was started in 1969 to provide high velocity connections from New Delhi to other different railways stations in India. This passenger train connects the national capital New Delhi with the major cities of India especially the state capitals. The Hindi word Rajdhani states the capital.


Rajdhani Express was runs at a high-speed up to 160 km/h bringing passengers near to their destination. The older Rajdhani Express set off from New Delhi station for Howrah station to cover 1,445 km in 16 hours 55mins. These trains procure the highest precedence on the Indian railway network. Rajdhani trains proffer three classes of accommodation including first class AC with 2- or 4-berth lockable bedrooms, AC 2-tier with open berths (bays of 4 berths + 2 berths on the other side of the corridor) with curtains for privacy, and AC 3-tier (bays of 6 berths + 2 berths on the side) without curtains.


At present there are 21 pairs of Rajdhani Express trains which are fully air-conditioned offering full comfort to the passengers. Passengers are also offered good meals during their travelling.
